Lela Mae Hill, 96, of Waterloo, died Friday, April 22, at UnityPoint Allen Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 1, 1919 in Waterloo, daughter of Irving and Beulah Nicol Neipert. She married Monroe Harvey Hill September 3, 1939 in Cedar Falls. He died December 19, 1981.

Lela graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1938 and attended Gates Business College, receiving her real estate license. She sold real estate in Waterloo and later she and her husband were self- employed contractors.

Survivors include two sons, James “Jim” (Barb) of Waterloo and Richard “Dick” (Mary Jensen) of Elk Run Heights; two daughters, Kay Hill of Waterloo and Theresa (Leroy Claassen) Hill of Elk Run Heights; four granddaughters, Patti Chaco, Tami Massey, Nicole Hill and Alissa Claassen and seven great-grandchildren, Nateria, Tyler, Tiana, Lexi, Dan, Matt and Seth; six great-great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Heather Thomson, Seth Thomson and James Beck and five step-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Robert Nicol and a sister, Helen Blaylock.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and also for an hour before services.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
