CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Viola Anne “Vi” Venter, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

She was born July 28, 1924, in Watkins, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Christen Bombach. She married Eugene O. Venter on January 15, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He died October 5, 1990.

She graduated from Gates Business School and employed as a bookkeeper. She belonged to the St. Paul Quilters, loved doing Tai Chi and volunteered at the Cedar Falls Public Library Book Nook.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Bud) Hansen of Cedar Falls and Lori (Lance)Powell of Grand Junction, Colorado; two sons, Daniel (Fran) Venter of Johnston and Ned (Robin) Venter of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren, Jenny Hansen Das, Lia Hansen Cohen, Andrew Hansen, Carl, Paul, Alex, Jacque and Tom Venter, and Seth Powell; seven great grandchildren, Lydia and Ike Venter, Jivan Cohen, Gabby and Serena Das, Oliver Venter, and Evelyn Nichols; one brother, Otto Bombach; and sister, Elsie Christensen.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Venter, and by a granddaughter, Betsy Hansen.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Memorial contributions may be directed to: St. Paul Lutheran Church Quilters or Lutheran World Relief (Women’s Assistance).
