Brenda Lea Burnett, 43 of Waterloo died Friday, April 8 at her home after a battle with cancer.

She was born May 14, 1972 in Waterloo, daughter of James and Karen Weiden Fettkether. She married Rodney Burnett October 12, 1996 in Gilbertville. They were later divorced.

Brenda graduated from Don Bosco High School, Gilbertville, in 1990 and attended American Institute of Business, Des Moines, earning her Associate of Business Degree in Executive Secretarial-Word Processing in 1992.

Survivors include her parents, James and Karen Fettkether of Raymond; two sisters, Rhonda (Rich) Metcalf of Elk Run Heights and Renee (Scott) Wiese of Gladbrook; a brother, Brian of Raymond; her maternal grandmother, Rita Weiden of Raymond; two nieces, Melissa (Reece) Petersen and Michelle Metcalf; a nephew, Tyler Metcalf and a great-niece, Jailyn.

Preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Hope; paternal grandparents, Hugh and Dorothy Fettkether and maternal grandfather, Lloyd Weiden.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in Sancta Maria Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Public visitation will be from 4-8 pm Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4 pm rosary. Visitation also for one hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Bosco System or the family.
