Steven J. Gades

August 14, 1954 - March 24, 2016

Steven J. Gades, 61, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Thursday, March 24 at Unity Point Health Systems – Allen Hospital.

He was born August 14, 1954 in Waterloo, the son of James and Evangelia Gades.

He attended Hudson schools and earned his GED from Hawkeye Community College. He briefly worked for Goodwill Industries.

He is survived by his sister, Kathryn (J. W. Wilder) Gades of Waterloo; two good friends, Jeff Lindley and Mike Garvey, both of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a special friend, Patricia Goodvin.

Services will be Tuesday, March 29 at St. Demetrious Greek Orthodox Church, 613 W. 4th St., with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street and continue for one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials: directed to Mental Health Resource Center at BHGMHC.
