James Elliott Sassaman, 69, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. He was born June 18, 1946, the son of Ralph and Elner (Foote) Sassaman in Cedar Falls. He married Pattie Gaede and they were later divorced. He married Julie Forbes June 17, 1995 in Cedar Falls. James graduated from Cedar Falls High School and worked for John Deere for many years. He owned and was operating Wizard of Odds Recycling.

James is survived by his wife, Julie Sassaman, of Cedar Falls; one son, Jakota (Kelsie Wolfe) Sassaman, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Cory (Darren) Lucking, of Nebraska and Jessica (Nick) Wireman, of Cedar Falls; his mother, Elner Sassaman, of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; three sisters, Liz (Dan) Gardner, of Rowley, Iowa, Helen (Herb) Bosley, of Cedar Falls, and Karen (LuRay) Meyer, of Wellsburg.

He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Carol Schirm and one infant grandchild, Nikklos Sassaman.

Memorial services will be Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Living Water Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Falls with visitation one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
