OBITUARY--

Richard “Dick” Lorraine Donovan was born September 22, 1925, near Independence, Iowa, son of Leo and Della (Tunks) Donovan. He attended rural schools in the Jesup and LaPorte City area graduating from LaPorte High School in 1943. Dick was united in marriage to Rita Marie Hogan on February 22, 1950 in Cedar Falls. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked for John Deere for 36 years before retiring in 1983. Dick enjoyed his retirement bowling, traveling and playing a lot of golf.

Dick passed away at the age of 90 years on Friday, February 26, 2016, at home with family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his second son, Timothy; two brothers, Leo and Robert; and three sisters, Alberta, Geraldine and Darlene.

Dick is survived by Rita, his wife of 66 years; two sons, Patrick (Janene) Donovan of Asheville, NC and Michael (Kandy) Donovan of LaCrosse, WI; a brother, Don (Phyllis) Donovan of Porte Charlotte, FL; five grandchildren: Dakota, Dustin, Shane, Nichole and Caitlin; and five great-grandchildren: Ethan, Sidney, Lilly, Ella and Shelby.

Per Dick’s wishes, there will be no public services. Cremation has taken place and burial will be planned at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Dick’s family.
