Biography--

Jeanette Ruth Nordahl, 88, of Waterloo, died Sunday, February 28, at Rosewood Estates Assisted Living Center.

She was born December 24, 1927, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Fritz and Julia Axleson Christianson. She married Ove Norris Nordahl on October 25th 1946 in Holt, Minnesota, and he died May 21, 2001.

Jeanette worked as a cook and custodian for the Waterloo Public schools.

Jeanette is survived two daughters, Carol (Merlyn) Lauber of Waterloo and Bonnie (Dennis) Geary of Waterloo; two sons, Terry (Cindy) Nordahl of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and Sandy (Ann) Nordahl of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren: Brian (Denise) Bertholf, Mark (Laurie) Bertholf, Shawn (Laura) Bertholf, Tony (Shorty) Geary, Troy Geary, Justin Geary, Bobby (Annette) Geary, Dawn (Jason) Helmrich, David Nordahl, Kimberly (Pat) Grewe, Cory Nordahl, Kodi Nordahl, Layla Postel, Renee (Carl) Morehouse, Tina Lauber; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister; Evelyn Halvorson of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fritz and Julia, husband Ove, half-sisters; Florence, Hannah and Ruby; a half-brother, brother Rueben, two brothers, Floyd and Charles Christianson.

Services: Wednesday, March 2, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Visitation also one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Jeanette’s passions were spending time with her family and cooking for big gatherings. Quilting, arts and crafts, folk art painting, and doll making.
