OELWEIN, IOWA -- Darliene Ruth Rehlander, 89, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and formerly of Oelwein, died Monday, February 8, at Windhaven Assisted Living, Cedar Falls.

She was born October 31, 1926, in Giltner, Nebraska, the daughter of William L. and Nona Blanche Evans Dilky. On January 23, 1944, she married Milton Frederick Rehlander at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein; he died Feb. 8, 2010.

Darliene graduated from Oelwein High School in 1943. Over the years she was employed at DeKalb, OCCO, Connor’s Department Store as a seamstress, homemaker and 22 years as director of the Oelwein Community School Lunch Program. She was a member and past Matron of Oelwein Chapter 45 Order of the Eastern Star and Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein.

She is survived by two sons, Larry (Ellen) of Elk River, Minn., and David (Kim) of Waterloo; a daughter, Margie (Jim) McMahon of Waterloo; two daughters-in-law, Sang Rehlander of Wichita, Kansas, and Edna Rehlander of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren, Jon, Dan, Laura, Terry, Chris, Jeff, Kerri, Stephen, Darliene, Donald, Matthew and Miranda; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Dennis and Jerry; a grandson, Terry; and three brothers, Donald, Raymond and Archie Dilky.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, both in Oelwein. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, with a 5 p.m. Order of the Eastern Star service, and for an hour before services at the funeral home.
