July 14, 1922 - January 30, 2016

LEONA PEDERSEN was born on July 14, 1922, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Hermina Lechner.

She married Adolph Pederson on October 26, 1962, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Leona lost her mother at a young age, she was in charge of caring for the house hold needs while her father and brother did the farming. She also worked in a wool mill for several years and then was a professional seamstress for a tailor shop down town Cedar Falls.

Leona was the most loving, beautiful and talented person. Her talents include painting, crafting, stained glass, sewing, and cooking. Everything she touched turned to magic.

She and Adolf spent 25 winters in South Texas, where the helped care for children in Mexico. They would gather clothes and shoes for them, make peanut butter sandwiches to hand out, and they helped build a small house for a family.
Leona joined God in heaven, surrounded by loving family on January 30, 2016, in Rockford Illinois, at the age of 93.

Leona is survived by a son, Danny Holtz of Cherokee, Iowa; a step son, Norman Pedersen of Rogers, Alaska; a step daughter, Mary Kay Burgess of Marion, Iowa; three grandsons, Jeffery (Karen) Reisetter of Machnesney Park, Illinois, Norman (Sue) Reisetter of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Austin (Lori) Reisetter of Rockford, Illinois; a granddaughter, Onna (Gene) Lorsung of Center Point, Iowa; thirteen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph; her parents; her step mother, Marian Lechner; and her brother, Oscar Lechner.

Services will be held Friday, February 5th at Nazareth Lutheran Church Chapel in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, rural Grundy County. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
