Funeral services for John Beck of 128 Sunnyside Ave. will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Luce, assistant pastor at Grace Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

Beck, 88, died of complications incident to advanced age at 2 p.m. Friday at Allen, Memorial Hospital.

The son of Frank and Margaret Beck, he was born March 3, 1865, at Cascade. He came with his parents to Waterloo when he was three. For many years he was employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in the 1920s.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Einsmann at home and Mrs. Katherine Turner of Redondo Beach, Cal; two brothers, Albert of Redondo Beach and Matt of Milwaukee, Wis., also three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.
