Visitation:
Public visitation will be held Sunday; and prior to the services on Monday at the Funeral Home.

Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Biography--

Mildred G. Payne, age 92, of Washburn, died Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo.

She was born February 4, 1923, in Spring Valley, Minnesota, the daughter of Arthur and Charlotte Larson Christopherson. Mildred was united in marriage with Doyle Payne on June 14, 1942 in Spring Valley. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1980.

Mildred was a cook at Bishop’s Cafeteria in Waterloo for 30 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Washburn. Mildred was a talented cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur (Lynn) Payne of New Albany, Indiana, and Charles (Vinnie) Payne of Waterloo; five daughters: Charlene Frederiksen of Waterloo, Becky Payne of Brooklyn, Iowa, Tina Payne of Pevely, Missouri, Sherry Payne of Washburn, Iowa and Kim Gardner (Rob Bruns) of Waterloo, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy (Jan) Christopherson of Spring Valley, Minnesota, and Lester (JoAnn) Christopherson of Rochester, Minnesota; and two sisters, Helen Stier and Shirley (Norm) Bergman, all of Grand Meadow, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; twin sons and a daughter in infancy; a great-grandson, Taylor; a brother, Dennis Christopherson and a brother-in-law, Jerry Stier.

The family wishes to thank Care Initiatives Hospice and the nurses on A Wing at Ravenwood Specialty Care for their loving care.
