Alma M. Burke (1915-2016)

WATERLOO, IOWA – Alma M. Burke, 100, of Waterloo, died Thursday, January 7, 2016, at UnityPoint – Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born August 31, 1915 in Waterloo, daughter of Carl and Mary (Johnson) Stevens. She married Edward Burke in September of 1945, in Waterloo. He died in 1989.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School and was employed with Hinson Manufacturing.

Survived by: two daughters, Sandy (Roger) Fulcher of Buckingham, Iowa, and Patricia (John) Corkran of Potomac, Montana; a son, Martin Burke of Fort Meyers, Florida; three grandchildren: Deb (Dan) Brandenburg of Waterloo, Christine Burke of Missoula, Montana; and Steve (Shelly Deeds) Fulcher of Waterloo; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Herbert Stevens; three sisters, Margaret Brice, Jennie Janes, and Olive White.

No services are being planned at this time. Her body has been deeded to the University of Iowa’s Deeded Body Program. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
