Loretta (Oliver) Reed was born August 19, 1925, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Gail and Geneva (Fullilove) Oliver. She was raised in Waterloo and graduated from East High School. Loretta worked for Hawkeye Community College as a Senior Companion until the age of 87 when she retired.

She loved people and knew many of her neighbors in the Cedar Valley. Loretta’s memory was wonderful and she could make multi-generational family connections for nearly anyone she met. She loved to share pictures and stories of her family, especially her grandchildren, wherever she went. Loretta was faithful to her family and spent Memorial Days decorating numerous graves of those who had passed before her.

Loretta passed away at the age of 90 years at Allen Memorial Hospital on Saturday, December 26, 2015, from natural causes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Daniel Lee Oliver and sister, Selma Oliver Allen. Loretta is survived by her son, Craig (Yvonne) Reed of Des Moines; two daughters Clozelle (Raymond) Harris of Waterloo and Gale Reed of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Brandon Reed Harris of Arizona and Whitney Rae Harris of Illinois; and two great-grandchildren, Jayven Reed Miller and Takirah Harris.

Loretta will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Memorials may be directed to Gale Reed.
