Death: December 15, 2015Helen M. DeBower, 83, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital.
She was born December 29, 1931 in Plainfield, daughter of Jerry J. and Alice Mahoney Harrington. She married Roger L. DeBower on June 7, 1950 in Waverly. He died March 1, 1994.
Helen owned and operated her own credit reporting business and was active with the Republican Party.
She is survived by a son, Kent R. DeBower of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Patricia J. Armstrong of West Des Moines, Paula K. (Philip) Bruno of Honolulu, Hawaii, Deon (Steve) Clabby of Waterloo; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by a son, Steven Roger DeBower; three brothers, Gerald, Donald and Francis Harrington and a sister, Dorothy Bean.
A Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Inurnment will be later in Allison Cemetery, Allison. Public visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary, and at the church for an hour before services on Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the family.
