Rose "Hoppi" Marie Simms

October 27, 1945 - December 5, 2015

Rose Marie “Hoppi” Simms, 70, of Cedar Falls, passed Sat., Dec. 5 at her home.

She was born Oct. 27, 1945 in Leavenworth, Kan. daughter of George Simms and Gertrude Self Williams.

Rose was employed at University of Northern Iowa as a chef, retiring in 2011. Survived by: a brother, Benjamin Williams, Jr. of Des Moines; a sister, Brenda Gillum of Cedar Falls; an aunt, Barbara Van Arsdale of Waterloo; an uncle, James F. Self of Tacoma, Wash.; a niece, Angela Gillum-Green; a nephew, Michael Gillum, Sr.; 12 great nieces and nephews, Kaiden Gillum, Rose Levingston, Joyce Levingston, Aaron Gillum-Green, T-Aire Caples, Tamara Caples, Andrea Caples, Antione Caples, Yvonne Caples, Nathan Williams, Michael Gillum Jr., and Breanna Gillum; 17 grandchildren; and a host of cousins.

Preceded in death by: her parents George Simms and Gertrude Self Williams; a brother, Stanley E. Rice, and a niece, Kimbly Gillum-Caples.

Memorial Services will be held from 12-1 p.m. Friday, December 11 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street.
