Biography--

Jack Hugh Stackhouse, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

He was born August 20, 1935 in southern Indiana, the son of Hugh and Verna (Rominger) Stackhouse. Jack married Frances Muhlenbruch on September 1, 1957 in Latimer, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2013.

Jack served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received his Masters degree in music from the University of Iowa. He was a music and band instructor for many years at Allison-Bristow, Bayard and Columbus High School. Jack later was an investment counselor for Bankers Life Company. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, enjoyed camping and all forms of music.

Jack is survived by his son, Scott (Paula) Stackhouse, of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Nicholas Harris of Dallas Texas, Gabriel Stackhouse of Ames, Iowa and Elle Stackhouse of Cedar Falls, and his sister, Caroline (George) Ehlers, of Reinbeck, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, a son, Douglas Stackhouse, and a brother, Joe Stackhouse.

Services will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be Tuesday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home.
