Jesup, Iowa – Leona E. Weber, 96 of Jesup, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, Iowa.

She was born December 18, 1918, near Gilbertville, Iowa, the daughter of Joe G. Weber and Gertrude (Schares) Weber. On February 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Raphael Theodore Weber at Immaculate Conception Church in Gilbertville. Leona farmed with her husband Ray until their retirement in 1984 when they moved to town. She was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church; Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Jesup and the Cedar Valley Polka Association.

She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, baking pies and Polka dancing. She truly enjoyed raising her family and received great joy from seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Weber is survived by three daughters, Mary Jean (Gerald) Bloes of Jesup, Margie Weber and Donna Weber of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Robert (Alice) Weber and Ron (Michelle) Weber, of Jesup; 8 grandchildren, Donnie (Lanette) Bloes, Dan (Lisa) Weber, Mark Weber, Lee Weber, Ryan Weber, Julie (Amos) Garrett, Cindy Bloes, Kayla Weber; 4 great grandchildren, Brett (Kelli) Bloes, Megan Bloes, Mallory Garrett and Oliver Garrett; also one brother, Anthony Weber of Gilbertville.

Her parents; husband Ray (November 17, 2005); four brothers, Eugene, Alvin, Irvin and Cleo Weber; and one sister, Ida Delagardelle, preceded her in death.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. – Monday, November 30, 2015, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with Msgr. Lyle L. Wilgenbusch as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup where there will be a Catholic Daughter’s of the Americas Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Monday at the church. Memorias may be directed to St. Athanasius Church or St. Athanasius School in Jesup; The Bosco System in Gilbertville or to a charity of the Donor’s choice.
