Jean M. Stokes, 93, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, June 29, 2015. She was born September 26, 1921 in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Bernard and Gladys (Keilty) Caley. Jean married Eugene Stokes in Cedar Falls and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2010. Jean was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and was a homemaker and farm wife. Later, she was the office manager at Windsor Care Center in Cedar Falls for twenty years, retiring in 1991.

Jean is survived by two daughters, Pam (Joel) Wood and Janice Parsons, both of Janesville, Iowa, one granddaughter, Sara (Jeff) Smead, of Grabill, Indiana; three great grandchildren, Clay Welter of Des Moines, Nicholas and Madison Smead of Grabill, Indiana; a grandson-in-law, Ron Welter, of Gilbertville, Iowa; step granddaughter, Faith (Doug) Higdon, of Hoagland, Indiana; several step great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Caley, of Cedar Falls, and two sisters, Ruth (Jim) Peterson of Cedar Falls and Lois Roberts of Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edward Stokes; a son-in-law, Edward Parsons; a granddaughter, Amy Welter; four sisters, her twin sister Jane Foster, and Barb Harder, Elizabeth Manley, Dorothy Ward, and four brothers, Phillip, William, Donald and John Caley.

Services will be Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church, with inurnment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Washington Chapel United Methodist Church. Jean loved reading, baking, working puzzles, gardening in her younger years and pizza. She was an active member of Washington Chapel and UMW for over 50 years. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
