George W. Pakala, 84, of Cedar Falls, died at home on Saturday, August 1, 2015.
He was born April 7, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Edythe (Cotton) Pakala. George married Lennice Sapp on June 17, 1953, in Volga, South Dakota. He graduated from Edgewood High School in Pittsburgh, earned his B.S. from Penn State University, and his M.A. from Purdue University. George was an engineer with John Deere & Company for 29 years, retiring in 1984.
He is survived by his wife, Lennice Pakala, of Cedar Falls; three sons, Leino (Sally) Pakala of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Lyle (Carol) Pakala of Cedar Falls and Lynn (Gayl) Pakala of Dike, Iowa; two daughters, Gayle (Rich) Mazzarella of Waterloo and Grace (Michael) Dickey of Portland, Oregon; 28 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, James (Denise) Pakala, of St. Louis, Missouri, and a sister, Helen (Gene) McFarland, of Titusville, Florida.
George was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be private, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
