Services:
Friday, March 6, 2015 at Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church: 930 W. 4th Street, Waterloo

Visitation:
Visitation will be Friday, prior to the service at the church.

Cemetery:
Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Iowa National Guard Funeral Detail.

Memorials:
Memorials may be directed to the family at 20206 Rose Garden Lane, Durham, North Carolina. The family will receive friends at 211 Kern Street, Waterloo.

Biography--

Doris Jean Polk Wright, 55, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Fayetteville.

She was born April 29, 1959 in Waterloo, the daughter of Chester Lee and Dora Lee Hollingsworth Polk, Sr.

Doris graduated from Waterloo Central High School and Hawkeye College of Nursing. She served in the U.S. Army as a nurse from 1985 to 2005. Ms. Wright was a member of Village Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

She is survived by two daughters, Gina L. Turner of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Gabrielle N. (Lance E.) Scott of Durham, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Armond, Josiah, and Isaiah Turner, and Aaliyah Scott; three brothers, Chester L. (Rose) Polk of Waterloo, David Hodges of Minnesota, and Rev. Joseph A. (Regina) Polk, Sr. of Waterloo; two sisters, Jacqueline Polk of Waterloo, and Venita Hodges of Illinois; and a special friend, William B. Simmons of Maryland.

Doris was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her parents; one brother, John F. Polk; and one sister, Dorothy Polk–Jenkins.
