Biography--

Opal Bonita Abben, 96, of Waterloo, died at home, on Thursday March 26, 2015.

She was born on November 13, 1918 in Fayette, daughter of Charles & Catherine (Gill) Troyer.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School. Opal was the owner and operator of Opal's Beauty Shop for 30 years. She retired in 2008. She was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible.

Opal is survived by granddaughter Angela Orr of Des Moines; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother-in-law Danny Foster of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son David Hanson; twin brothers, Leonard and Leon; three sisters, Dorothy Smith, Gwendolyn Gilbert, and Naomi Foster.
