Biography--Cecil was born Oct, 29, 1918, in La Porte City, Iowa, to Glenn and Margaret (Sawyer) Teeter.
He graduated from La Porte City High School in 1936, attended Iowa State Teachers College (now University of North-ern Iowa), and was a member of Alpha Delta Alpha fraternity.
Cecil served in the US Army from 1941 to 1946, as Second Lieutenant, Signal Corps, and Captain, Officer Reserve Corps. Dur-ing WW II he served in campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, and Germany, attached to the Air Corps (now Air Force).
He was recalled to active duty from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict, serving as Company Commander at Camp Gordon, GA, and Camp Cooke, CA.
Cecil became a manager for AT&T in several departments during his 38-year career. He worked in Iowa City, Kansas City, New York City, Washington, DC, and again in Kansas City.
He was a life member of American Legion Post #207 in La Porte City, IA, a member of the church Men’s Club, and served three years as an elected officer of the Retired Telephone Pioneers. During retirement they lived in Roeland Park, KS, Mesa, AZ, and Lawrence, KS.
Emma was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Clear Lake, IA, to Christian and Martha (Salling) Larsen, both natives of Denmark who emi-grated and became citizens of the USA.
She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1934, and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Emma worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Mason City, IA, for nine years, as Chief Evening Operator and Commercial Office Representative. She was the first woman at NW Bell to be retained in her position after marriage. She resigned in 1945 when Cecil returned from WW II.
As they moved from state to state, Emma lovingly raised their three children and volunteered in their local communities, including church Women’s Circle, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, day care for physically disabled children, and Head Start.
After a granddaughter was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue in 1982, she founded the Celiac Sprue Association of Greater Kan-sas City, and assisted the national chapter in Des Moines, IA.
During their retirement in Mesa, AZ, she volunteered with the Phoenix area Celiac Sprue Association, and the Child Crisis Center of Mesa.
Survivors include a son, Steven Teeter (Sharon); two daughters, Marilyn Teeter and Patricia Zara (George); three of Cecil’s brothers, Clare, Truman, and James (Maria); Cecil’s sister, Dorothy Frericks (Marvin); a sister-in law, Ann Larsen; four grandchildren, Jessica Romaine, Alice Teeter, Kellie Kandybowicz, and Glenn Teeter (Maria); two step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Alexandre and Michael Zara; four great-grandchildren, Adrian and Rhiannon Romaine and Aristeo and Javier Teeter Rangel; and many nieces, nephews, their children and grand-children.
They were preceded in death by their parents; a grandchild, Patricia’s daughter Ann Kandybowicz; a step-grandchild, Katherine Zara; Emma’s sister and her husband, Marie & Barney Kogan; Emma’s brother, Carl; two of Cecil’s brothers and their wives, William & Cecile and Robert & Maxine; a sister-in-law, Juanita (Mrs. Clare) Teeter; and two nephews.
