Emma M. Burrows, age 103, of La Porte City, died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born July 20, 1911 in rural Benton County, near Blairstown, Iowa the daughter of Mathias Joseph Hartz and Lydia Radeke Fawbush. Emma was a school teacher and she taught in Benton county country schools prior to her marriage. She was united in marriage with Donald L. Burrows on June 2, 1934 in Galena, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1971.
Emma and her husband Donald farmed west of La Porte City for many years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the church ladies circle.
Survivors include a son, Dean (Judy) Burrows of Jefferson City, MO, and a daughter, Marlys Bowman of Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, James Bowman and 2 sisters, Helen Wilson and Leone Goodell.
