Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Avenue in Waterloo

Visitation:
Tuesday, September 8, 2015 and an hour prior to the services on Wednesday at Garden View Chapel.

Cemetery:
Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail.

Biography--

George A. Young, age 91, of Waterloo, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Manor Care Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born April 23, 1924 in Nunda, New York, the son of Clarence M. and Jenny Hornby Young. George was raised by his stepfather Harmonus Eaton. He was united in marriage with Joann Lovell on November 16, 1956 in Wellsboro, PA. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2002.

George was an over the road truck driver for many years, working for trucking companies in Pennsylvania and Iowa. He served in the US Army as a military policeman from August 23, 1945 until his honorable discharge on December 5, 1946. He was a member of the Evansdale AMVETS Post 31.

Survivors include four sons, George (Susan) Young of Evansdale, Jeff (Beth) Young and Craig (Kristy) Young all of Waterloo, and Chad (June) Young of Slidell, LA.; three daughters, Bonnie (Aaron) Rounds of Waterloo; Laurie (Jerome Keller) Schoepske and Angie (Mike Herbrandson) Young, both of Waterloo; 21 grandchildren; three step grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather; a daughter, Wendy Young; three brothers: Clarence, John and David Young and a sister, Helen Young.
