Biography--

George J. Christy, 84, of Waterloo, formerly of Ottumwa, died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital, on Sunday, October 18, 2015, of natural causes.

George was born on December 21, 1930 in Ottumwa, son of Alfred George and Madeline Cole Christy.

He married Ethel Virginia July 23, 1952 in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death.

George worked as a forklift operator for John Deere Co. for 30 years before retiring in 1978.

He is survived by one daughter: Virginia Foster of Waterloo; three sons: Mike Christy of Denver, Colo., Norman Christy of Iowa City, and Loyal Christy of Waterloo; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; one son, John Owen Christy; and several siblings.
