Mary Anne (Weiden) Webber

July 29, 1933 - April 6, 2015

Mary Anne (Weiden) Webber was born July 29, 1933, in Gilbertville, Iowa, daughter of Andrew and Beatrice (Schares) Weiden. She grew up and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Gilbertville. Following graduation Mary Anne moved to Waterloo where she worked as an accounting clerk at Rath Packing Plant.

She met Richard Webber on a blind date arranged by his brother and the two wed on September 8, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waterloo. Together they raised four daughters. Mary Anne retired from Allen Memorial Hospital where she worked in the Distribution Center. In her “spare time” she enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, baking cookies, gardening, canning and reading (she was known to always carry a paperback book in her purse).

She was an active member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was in the craft club and baked for funeral luncheons. Mary Anne spent the last twelve years of her life in Des Moines where her daughter’s helped care for her.

Mary Anne passed away at the age of 81 years on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard and one sister, Audrey Murphy.

Mary Anne is survived by her four daughters: Cindy (Terry) Olson of Des Moines, Beth (Darron) Hair of Waterloo, Julie (David) Busch of Des Moines and Monica (Mathew) McCue of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wilma (Leo) Brustkern of LaPorte City and Barbara Oberhauser of LaPorte City.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
