David Arthur Mixdorf

August 28, 1928 - May 5, 2015

David Arthur Mixdorf was born on August 28, 1928, in Waterloo, the son of Arthur and Vallie (Trebon) Mixdorf. He grew up on a farm near Dunkerton and graduated from Dunkerton High School. On June 27, 1948, David was united in marriage to Phyllis Demmel at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bennington Township.

He farmed in the Dunkerton area for many years. After retiring from the farm in 1980, David worked at Kavalier Implements as a parts specialist until 1996. He enjoyed tractor shows, camping, NASCAR, and spending time with his family. David died at the age of 86 on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Chancel, Daniel, and Francis in infancy.

David is survived by his wife, Phyllis; three sons, Jimmy (Kathy) of Waterloo, Jerry (Kathryn) of Dunkerton, and Johnny (Deb) of Janesville; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Zach) McFarland, Steven Mixdorf, Scott Mixdorf, and Bethany Mixdorf; and eight great grandchildren, Jared, Bryson, and Connor McFarland, and Marissa, Matthew, Mason, Max, and Miley Mixdorf. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Please direct memorials to Cedar Valley Hospice or St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bennington Township.
