Biography--

Donald E. Crowe, 88, of Conrad, Iowa, formerly of Waterloo, died at Westbrook Acres, Gladbrook, Iowa on Monday, November 9, 2015 of Parkinson’s disease.

He was born July 19, 1927 in Spring Valley, Minnesoa, son of Frank and Agatha Egan Crowe. Don married Lucile Padget on April 22, 1951, in Dubuque; she died May 12, 2002. He married Janice A. Hurlbutt on December 6, 2003 in Waterloo.

Don graduated from LeRoy, Minnesota, High School in 1945. He worked as a railway conductor for the Illinois Central Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1989. He served in the U.S. Navy following high school.

He was a member of Kimball Ave. United Methodist Church, past Sunday School Superintendent and member of Board of Trustees. He was Past Master of Martin Lodge #624, Past Patron of Cedar Valley O.E.S. Chapter #128 and past Grand Patron of the Iowa O.E.S. Other Masonic memberships were Reinbeck and Sunrise Masonic Lodges, White Shrine, El Kahir Shrine, York Rite, and Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; son Rodney (Mary) Crowe of Green Bay, WI; stepson, Ray Hurlbutt of Conrad; three stepdaughters: Vonda Prine of Minnesota, Janann (Bill) Beyer of Conrad, and Glennice Jones of Ames; seven grandchildren: Veronica (Kevin) Klein of Cassville, WI, Joshua Crowe and Jacob Crowe, both of Moline, IL, Neal Hurlbutt of Conrad, Helen Beyer of Conrad, Allison (fiancé Kenny Johnston) Jones of Ames, and Autumn Jones of Ames; and five great-grandchildren: Brittany, Gabe, Walker, Douglas and Sully.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile; granddaughter, Leah; sister, Mary Wherry; two brothers, Mike and Joseph; and two infant brothers, Phillip and James.

Thursday at Kimball Ave United Methodist Church, Waterloo

Visitation:
Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home with a public Masonic service by Reinbeck Coin Lodge #394 A.F. & A.M. and an Eastern Star Service by Cedar Valley Chapter #128 and Reinbeck Chapter #273

Cemetery:
Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo
