Bruce David Bottorff

January 11, 1945 - July 16, 2015

Bruce David Bottorff was born on January 11, 1945, son of Orin and Gratia (Benson) Bottorff in Webster City, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Webster City High School. Bruce attended the University of Northern Iowa for a short while then entered the United States Army Reserves. He later returned to UNI and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts.

Bruce met Pamela Sue Roth and the couple was engaged 4 days later; married 4 months later on December 23, 1967; and were happily married for 48 years! They settled in Waterloo and were blessed with twin sons in 1973. Bruce also enjoyed “picking” through one man’s junk to find another man’s treasure. He loved being outside on their wooded acreage.

Bruce was a people person and would find others everywhere he went who shared some common thread never forgetting the little details he would learn from their conversations. Most of all, he loved his family and treasured time with them doing the very simplest of activities.

Bruce passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at ManorCare Health Services at the age of 70 years due to complications of cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Pam; sons, Aaron (Chris) Bottorff of Nashua and Eric (Rebecca) Bottorff of Hampton; six grandchildren: Matthew, Sydney, Megan, Sawyer, Nicholas and Michael Bottorff; three brothers, Roger (Bernadine) Bottorff of Webster City, Gary (Carol) Bottorff of Lansing, Iowa, and Terry (Marilyn) Bottorff of Webster City.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Unity Presbyterian Church.
