Edward Wallace “Pat” McEnany was born June 9, 1921 in Waterloo, Iowa: the son of Peter and Mary (Erbe) McEnany. He was raised in Waterloo and attended Edison and Sacred Heart School. Edward served in the Army during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Aldyce (Chris) Christiansen on July 28, 1965 in Waterloo. They were later separated. Edward was one of the founding members of the original Waterloo Black Hawks hockey team in the 1950’s and the Waterloo Waterhawks in 1958.

When he was 28, he was the first person to swim the Cedar River from the Cedar Falls dam to West 2nd Street in Waterloo, in just four hours. Edward was an Inspector at John Deere for 35 years, retiring on June 1, 1981.

Edward passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 94.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters: Genevieve Richmond, Evangeline Alexander and his twin sister Agnes Olinger. Edward is survived by two nephews and four nieces.
