He was married to Dixie Federspiel in November of 1970, but they later divorced. Ronald attended Hawkeye Community College for tool and die. He was employed at John Deere as a machinist, retiring in 1999. Ronald enjoyed riding bikes, running, dancing, and going to stock car races. He was very active and never missed an event going on in Waterloo. Most of all, Ronald loved his family, especially his grandkids.

Ronald is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Mike) McNamee and Jennifer (Barry) Combs both of Waterloo; five grandchildren: Alex Baker, Andrea Magnuson and Taylor, Kaitlyn and Kirstyn Combs; a brother Gary (Carol) Dake of Hudson; two sisters, Marilyn (Craig) Peters of Gladbrook and Diana Corkery of Prescott, Arizona; and a great grandson, Aiden. Ronald will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
