Verna Mae Cagley

May 10, 1930 to October 25, 2015

Verna Mae Cagley was born on May 10, 1930 to James and Esther (Buehler) Volker in Waterloo, Iowa. She worked as a bartender in numerous bars throughout Evansdale, and owned Tollgate Bar in Dunkerton. Verna was known for her potato salad. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, dancing, fishing and wintering in Arizona. Verna especially enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds in the summertime. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Verna passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Cedar Falls Health Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands: Lawrence Allen, Donald Rekers and Carroll Cagley; a daughter Sandra Allen; a son Larry Joe Allen; a brother James Volker; a sister Karen Henry; and a grandson.

She is survived by a son Dennis (Robin) Rekers of Waterloo; two daughters: Cynthia (Jerry) Kemmer of Waterloo and Marsha (Earl) Goossen of Minneapolis, Kansas; a brother Rick (Mavis) Volker of North Platte, Nebraska; a sister Sharon (Jim) Johnson of Waterloo; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and five step children.

Verna was a great mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
