Obituary for Margaret M. Holm

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Margaret M. Holm, 93, of Cedar Falls died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Sartori Hospital.

She was born December 21, 1921 in Grant County, Minnesota, daughter of Herman and Ida Mae Davis Backerman. She married Sterling Holm on November 7, 1942 in Houston, Texas. He died in 1987.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School and was employed as a receptionist with Medical Associates for 16 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist/First Evangelical Free Church for nearly 80 years.

She is survived by a son, George (Carole) of Niagara Falls, Ontario; daughter-in-law, Jody Holm of Clayton, Iowa; two grandchildren, Tim Holm of Palmer, Alaska, and Erin (Kirk) Stafford of Port Orchard, Wash.; five great grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Backerman of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tom Holm; and four brothers: Harold, Harvey, James and Jack Backerman.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday at NewAldaya Lifescapes Chapel with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service.

Memorials may be directed to: First Evangelical Free Church or donor’s choice.
