Obituary for Wilda Cooper Miller

WATERLOO, IOWA - Wilda Cooper Miller, 95, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Phoenix Mountain Nursing Center.

She was born May 5, 1919 in Calloway County Missouri, daughter of Thomas and Alpha (Niebert) Copper. She married George W. “Bill” Miller in February 1940, in Denver, Colorado. He died September 21, 1954.

She graduated from North High School in Denver, Colorado and the University of Denver - Denver Business College. She became a Registered X-Ray Technician with Waterloo Surgical & Medical Group and then later with the Orthopedic Center in Scottsdale, AZ, retiring in 1990.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Robert T. (Charlene) Miller of Scottsdale, AZ; by three daughters-in-law: Ferrol Miller of Azle, TX, Sandra Briden of Waterloo and Nancy Bateman of Alto, MI; seven grandchildren: Sarah (Alan) Bennett, Kathryn (Mike) Wicker, Melissa (Sol) Freeman, Scott (Stephenie) Miller, Brian (Ashley) Miller, Michael (Alice) Miller, and Christopher Miller; nine great grandsons: Conner Bennett of Azle, TX, Alexander and Graham Miller of Fort Worth, TX, James Case and Scott Miller of Euless, TX, Nathan (Maria) Pitz of Vinton, IA, Rudy Wicker of Belleville, WI, Jordan Freeman, Devin and Trenton Jones of Pasco, WA; seven great-granddaughters: Lena (Ryan) Hill of Kassom, MN, Rhea Wieditz of Vinton, IA, Skyln Tibbals of Waterloo, IA, Abby Wicker of Belleville, WI, Grace and Madeline Bennett of Azle, TX, Abrigail Miller of Fort Worth, TX; and one great-great-grandson, Kalen Hill of Kassom, MN.

She was preceded in death by three sons: James K., Dean, and G.W. “Bill” Miller.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, beginning with a Cedar Valley Chapter O.E.S. public service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services in the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to: the Phoenix Zoo or the American Cancer Society.
