Obituary for Donald Eugene Mikkelsen

(1934-2015)

WATERLOO, IOWA - Donald E. Mikkelsen, 81, of Waterloo died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born August 19, 1934, in Cedar Falls, son of Lindhardt and Edna (Mohler) Mikkelsen. He married Janet Schroeder on February 14, 1960 in Waterloo and they later divorced. He married Iva Jean Conaway on March 16, 1991 in Strawberry Point. She died July 30, 2010.

He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959 and was a livestock feed salesman, retiring in 2008.

He is survived by a son, Jeff (Denise) Mikkelsen of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Rochelle McAninch of Des Moines; three stepsons, Steve (Deb) Conaway of Waterloo, Shawn (Shannon) Conaway of Independence, and Shannon (Robin) Conaway of Waterloo; stepdaughter, Shellie (Jim) Nerison of Waterloo; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother, Larry Mikkelsen of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Loren Alfred Mikkelsen; and by a sister, Lynda Jean Grapp.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Richardson Funeral Service with visitation for one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be conducted by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 Honor Guard.
