Obituary for Eugene Elmer Johnson

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Eugene Elmer Johnson, 93, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, March 27, 2015, at Western Home Communities Martin Center in Cedar Falls.

He was born November 13, 1921 in Chicago, IL, the son of Frank and Elvera (Peterson) Johnson. He served in the US Army. He married Caroline Blum on February 18, 1967 in Chicago, IL; she died July 6, 1981. On February 25, 1984, Eugene married Mary Rogers in Cedar Falls.

He worked as an ice cream truck driver for Drexel Ice Cream Company, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion and First United Methodist Church of Cedar Falls

Survived by: his wife of Cedar Falls, two step-sons: Roger (Patricia) Garbers of Plymouth, IN and Robert Lemon of Denver, CO, four grandchildren and also by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife Caroline, and brother, Gordon Johnson.

Services: 10:30am Tuesday, March 31 at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment with military honors provided by AMVETS post #49 at Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls.

Memorials: may be directed to the Western Home Foundation or the church.
