Obituary for Shirley Roof 1929-2015

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Shirley Roof, 85, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa.

She was born May 18, 1929 in Buffalo, New York, daughter of John T. and Nettie (Hopper) Dean. She married Bob Roof on September 6, 1947 in Buffalo.

She was a homemaker who volunteered with the American Cancer Society for 45 years. She was a member of Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: her husband of Cedar Falls; four sons: Bob (Kay) of Manchester, John (Beth) of Cedar Rapids, Pete (Chris) of Duncan, AZ, and Tom (Tina) of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren: Rob (Cassandra), Marcy (Chris), Lawson, Ryan (Melissa), Brad, Jeanne, Audrey (Joe), Sam and James; and three great-grandchildren: Joceyln, Tre and Belen.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Roof.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service and also for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the church.
