Loyd D. “Bud” Acklin (1920-2015)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Loyd D. “Bud” Acklin, 94, of Apache Junction, Arizona, formerly of Cedar Falls and New Hartford, Iowa, died Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona.

He was born May 23, 1920, in Newton, son of Benjamin and Maryl (Eaton) Acklin. He married Dorothy Rita Ridgeway on August 2, 1938, in Waterloo.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for 25 years at John Deere, retiring in 1980.

Survived by: three sons, James (Judy) of Waterloo, Gary (Donna) of Harvey, and Dennis (Janet) of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Barbara Scoles of New Hartford and Julie Acklin of Mesa, Arizona; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen of Newton.

Preceded in death by: a son-in-law, Warren “Jr.” Scoles; and one granddaughter.

No services are planned. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
