Joyce Ann Knoll (1948-2015)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Joyce Ann Knoll, 66, of Cedar Falls, died March 30, 2015, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center.

She was born August 14, 1948 in Iowa Falls, daughter of Fernando and Marjorie (West) Hartwig. She married Brock Kincaid Knoll on June 16, 1972, in Traer, Iowa.

She graduated from Conrad High school (BCL) and received her Associate of Arts degree from Ellsworth Community College. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa where she also did graduate studies. She taught in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls school systems.

She was a board member of the Black Hawk (now Cedar Bend) Humane Society. She was co-chair of the Black Hawk-Bremer League of Women Voters. Joyce’s passions in life were her loving husband of 42 years, the arts, books, history, flower gardening, and everything related with nature.

Survived by: her husband; a sister, Joan Deaton; and brothers, Donald, Kenneth, and Larry Hartwig.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Glenn and Angeline Knoll; a nephew, Randy Deaton; and brother-in-law, Vernon Deaton.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation for one hour prior to the service.
