Merle R. Belz (1921-2015)

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Merle R. Belz, 93, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center.

He was born November 29, 1921, in Cedar Falls, son of Harvey and Clea (Scholl) Belz. He married Maxine Yokom on November 28, 1943 in Cedar Falls. She died May 28, 2013.

He graduated from Finchford High School and farmed in rural Cedar Falls. He was a member of First Christian Church, Cedar Falls.

He is survived by a son, Larry (June) Belz of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Elaine (Scott) Day of Keota; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Hansen; and a brother, Herb Belz.

Services: Saturday at Richardson Funeral Service with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
