Obituary for Mort Fuller

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Maurice “Mort” Fuller, 78, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 8 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa.

He was born January 16, 1937 in Bartlett, Iowa, son of Everett and Mildred (Hopkins) Fuller. He married LaVina Driskill on August 25, 1958, in Sheridan, Wyoming.

He graduated from Wales-Lincoln HS class of 1955 in Wales, Iowa, earned a bachelors in education from Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska, and a masters from University of South Dakota in administration. Mort played basketball and baseball for Hastings College.

He worked as an elementary and junior high principal in numerous school districts in Wyoming and Iowa, retiring in 1994 from the Sheridan, Wyoming school district. Mort was a member of the Story, Wyoming Rotary, an elder at the First Baptist Church in Sheridan, Wyoming, and a member of Prairie Lakes Church, Cedar Falls.

Mort loved his wife, “Viney”, and they were rarely seen apart. His grandchildren brought him great fun and pride throughout the years, and he enjoyed all of their activities and accomplishments. He loved Jesus and the mission of Prairie Lakes Church where he served joyfully.

Survived by: his wife, three sons: Kevin (Karyn) of Franklin, Tennessee, Douglas (Sandi) of Overland Park, Kansas, and John (Kay) of Cedar Falls, a brother, Richard, three sisters, Sandra Rea, Karen Mellott, and Judy Thomas, grandchildren, Melissa (Tony) Czech, Lindsay, Brock, Jackson, Mackenzie, Allyson (Christopher) Latta, Shane (Brynn), and Karly (Ben) Fessler.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Bruce.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday at Prairie Lakes Church in Cedar Falls, with visitation from 4-7 Monday at Richardson Funeral Service, and also one hour prior to the service at church. Inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls.

Memorials may be directed to Prairie Lakes Church college ministry.
