Obituary for Dean Wishmeyer

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - W. Dean Wishmeyer, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Western Home Communities- South Cottage
He was born March 6, 1933, in Humeston, Iowa, the son of Cecil and Leona Rynor Wishmeyer. He married Terumi Morii in Japan. She died December 5, 1985. He then married Lois Brown.

Dean graduated from Humeston High School in 1951 and served in the United States Army from 1952-1955. He was employed as a Quality Control Inspector at John Deere from 1959 until his retirement on March 17, 1989. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #65, El kahir Shrine, Yorkrite, UNI Athletic Club, UAW 838 and the Sartori Hospital Auxiliary.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; one son, Duane (Nancy) Wishmeyer of Highlands Ranch, CO ; two daughters, Dr. Janet (Barry Harper) Rettenmaier of Eldorado Springs, MO and Jolynn Wishmeyer (Randy Terpstra) of Cedar Falls; step son, Mark (Teresa) Brown of Gallatin, TN; two step daughters, Sue Beaupre of Minnesota and Barbara (Jon) Ford of Arvada, CO; four grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and one step great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Willis Wishmeyer.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with interment in the Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls, where there will be a Public Masonic Service 7:00 p.m. Full Military Honors provided by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49.

He was an active volunteer with the Red Cross, Cedar Falls Senior Center, Association of Retired Americans, church, Allen Hospital and the GBPAC.
