Beverly J. Smelser, 86, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday, December 26, 2014, at Manor Care Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born March 23, 1928, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbert and Garnet Dill Landau. She married Eugene Smelser on July 31, 1946 in Waterloo. He died in 1968.

Bev graduated from Waterloo East High School.

Survivors include: a son, Kurt Smelser of Cedar Falls; four daughters, Judy Mitchell of Waterloo, Joni Lynn of Fort Collins, Colorado, LeAnne (Doug) Daringer of Ladera Ranch, California and LuDene (Kevin) Donaldson of Aiken, South Carolina; 14 grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer and Lucinda Mitchell, Jeremy (Amy) Eastman and Heidi Eastman, Holly Nordman, Darcy (Richard) Alexander, Rachel, Michael (RaeNell) and Andrew Daringer, Natalie (Steve) Shipley, Angela Donaldson and Clint (Stephanie) Donaldson and David Smelser; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Eastman.
