Biography--

Alan L. Smith, 66, died Thursday, October 15 at his home.

He was born March 1, 1949 in Peoria, Ill., son of Earl E. and Elizabeth Wildeboer Smith. Alan graduated from East High School in 1966. He had been employed with Rath Meat Packing Co., John Deere Tractor Mfg. Co., Standard Golf and lastly with Tyson, where he retired from in March 2015.

He is survived by two sons. Brian Smith of Dunlap, Ill. and Shane Smith of Waterloo; a daughter, Dusty Smith (Chris Barber) of Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Sara, Noah, Anna, Ella, Olivia, Cooper, Cameron, Alexis and Brooke; a sister, Mary (Steve) Brandhorst of Waterloo; two brothers, Roy Sells of Notasulga, Ala. and Larry Smith of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Rick Sells and a sister, Kathy Smith.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway Ave.

Visitation one hour preceding services.

Memorials may be made to the family.
