Biography--

Lloyd W. Buls, 82 of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at New Aldaya Lifescapes, Cedar Falls.

He was born November 14, 1932, in Tripoli, Iowa, the son of Herman and Hilda Rohrssen Buls. He married Jane Kent July 28, 1955 in New Hampton.

Lloyd was employed with John Deere for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of UAW Local 838, serving as recording secretary for retirees, President for Alliance for Retired Americans, and served on the Citizen Action Program.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Barb Powell of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, David (Holli) Powell, Brian Powell, Amy Powell, Sarah Amundson, Nicole (Nate) Gordon and Michael Harbaugh; nine great-grandchildren a sister, Lois Hagen of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Janet Coon of Kansas City, Kansas.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Harbaugh; two sons-in-law, David Harbaugh and Jack Powell, Jr.; two sisters, Darlene (Willard) Holm and Edith (Jim) Damon; three brothers-in-law, Loran Hagen, Kenneth Kent, Jr. and Harold Kent and a sister-in-law, Janice Kent.

Services will be Monday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19, Evansdale Amvets Post 31 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation will be for an hour before services at the church.

Hagarty - Waychoff - Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or to the family.
