Biography--

Myrtle E. Gronoski, 91, died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at NorthCrest Specialty Care.

She was born June 15, 1923 in Scranton, daughter of Lars and Astrid Lindquist Buck. She married Chester Gronoski on May 18, 1942 in Waterloo. He died September 23, 1990.

Myrtle graduated from West High School. She worked in the silk screen division at Standard Golf in Cedar Falls for twenty years, retiring in 1986. Myrtle was an active member of St. Mary’s Church Craft Club. She was a crafter and made many Sno People and other crafts for the church annual bazaar.

She was a circle leader for the Rosary Society and was active in doing funeral dinners and worked community meals for many years. She was awarded the Jessica Hey Memorial Volunteer Award in 2000 through the YWCA. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by two sons, Tom (Cheri) of Waverly and Gene (Colleen) of Cedar Falls; two granddaughters, Lisa (Martin) Chapa and Jenny Gronoski; four great-grandchildren, Kailey Rae and Jacob Gronoski, Gabriel and Felix Chapa.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Mary, Shirley and Virginia; a brother, Gene.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Catholic Daughters of America rosary. Visitation also one hour preceding services at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Myrtle loved her family so much and had so many dear friends.
