Shirley Ann Farley, 79, of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 28 at her home after a short illness.

She was born February 24, 1936 in Vincennes, Ind. daughter of Thomas and Josephine Stangle Christian. She married James Ray Farley July 28, 1956 in Vincennes, Ind. He died February 27, 2004.

Shirley graduated from St. Rose Academy in Vincennes, Ind. in 1954. She was employed in the women’s department at Sears, retiring in 1997.

Survivors include her children, Debra Wyant of Waterloo, Iowa, Jamie Farley of Gilbert, Arizona, Kevin Farley of Lake Rathbun, Iowa, Karen Whitaker of Center Point, Iowa, and Kandance Schnell of Waterloo, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Jeff (Jennifer) Wyant, Stephanie (Howard) Gentry, Bonnie (Matt) Knittle, Shawn (Amanda) Stribley, Breanne (Nick) Tinsley, Shane Stribley, Bobbie (Rex) Yearous, Brittany (Bryan) Klein, Kristine (Matt) Whitaker, Cassandra Jo Farley, Zach Farley and Kaitlyn Schnell; 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Bobbi Sturgeon of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Kathy J. Farley.

Services will be Tuesday, June 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday at Hagarty – Waychoff –Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4 pm rosary and a 7 pm vigil service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
