Donald L. Christensen

June 5, 1927 - July 10, 2015

Donald L. Christensen, 88, of Waterloo, died Friday July 10 at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 5, 1927, in Fort Dodge, the son of John and Esther Johnson Christensen. He married Joan C. Pieper on August 5, 1948, in Fort Dodge and she died March 4, 2002.

Donald graduated from Fort Dodge High School and served in the United States Navy. He was employed at Rath Packing Company until its closing.

Survivors include: a son, John (Diane) of Janesville; six daughters, Susan (Dave) Weidman, of Waterloo, Connie (Randy) Morgan of Marion, Barb (Jim) Dean of Crown Point, Ind, Mary Kathleen Christensen of Waterloo, Donna (Don) Reuter of Waterloo, and Judy (Corky) Halverson of Waterloo, 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.

Preceded in death by: two sons, James Edward Christensen and Donald Paul Christensen; two daughters, Jean Ann Becker and Mary Francis Christensen; a granddaughter, Joan Weidman; a great grandson, Avery James Smith; two brothers, John “Red” (Ruth) Christensen and Edward (Helen) Christensen.

Services: Monday, July 13, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation: Monday at the funeral home.
