Mari Esthela Ruiz

September 18, 1938 - July 15, 2015

Mari Esthela Ruiz, 76, of Waterloo, formerly of Guttenberg, died Wednesday, July 15, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born September 18, 1938 in Asuncion, Paraguay, daughter of Pastor and Damiana Barreto Verdun. She married Dr. Raul E. Ruiz August 11, 1966 in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Raul A. (Lori) of Hudson and Gerardo (Amelia) of Indianola; five grandchildren, Monica, Trevor, Dillon, Iliana and Kian; and three sisters, Zuni Castillo, Nenu Da Ponte and Cha Cha Verdun, all of Asuncion, Paraguay.

Preceded in death by her parents; a sister and a brother.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Hagarty – Waychoff – Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday at the funeral home and for an hour before services.
