Biography--

Stephen A. "Papa Steve" Bruns, 69, of Waterloo, formerly of Hudson, died at Covenant Medical Center on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, from a sudden illness.

Stephen Anton Bruns was born April 12, 1946, in Waterloo, son of Louis and Cecelia Gisler Bruns and graduated from Hudson High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War

He married Kathe Baker in 1965; they later divorced. He married Kathryn Curry in 1973 and they divorced.

He was a custodian for the Cresco School System.

Survived by his daughters: Shellie (Mike) Mott, Waterloo, Iowa, Lori (Oliver) Bruns‑Clavell, Almere‑Stad, Flevoland, Nederlands; and Amanda Bruns, Port St. Lucy, Florida; a son, Jeremiah (Holly) Bruns, Crawfordville, Indiana; six grandchildren; one great‑grandson; and a sister, Ann of Cresco, Iowa.

He was preceded by a daughter, Sherrie Bruns and by four brothers: Chuck, Jerry, Joe and Laverne Bruns.
